Dr. Jennifer Bonczynski graduated from the Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She was a veterinarian in private practice for 2 years. She then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery followed by a surgery residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York. She achieved ACVS board certification in small animal surgery in 2004. Dr. Bonczynski remained on as a staff surgeon at the Animal Medical Center for 3 years. During that time at the Animal Medical Center, she mentored the surgical residency program. In 2008, she helped open the Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, NY. There she spent 8 years as a staff surgeon and headed the Animal Specialty Center surgical residency program. In 2016, she was one of the original veterinary specialists that opened the Blue Pearl Hospital in Paramus, NJ. She headed the surgery team in Paramus for 9 years. Her clinical interests include surgical oncology, minimally invasive surgery and interventional radiology. She is also extensively experienced in orthopedic surgery. She is particularly skilled in removal of large liver, adrenal, thoracic or subcutaneous masses. Dr. Bonczynski is often sought out to remove large masses that are deemed by others as not possible. She also performs a variety of minimally invasive procedures to include thoracoscopic removal of lung masses, mediastinal masses, thoracoscopic pericardiectomies, laparoscopic abdominal exploratories, laparoscopic biopsies and laparoscopic gastropexies. Dr. Bonczynski also provides many respiratory and urinary tract stenting procedures as well as ureteral bypass device placement for urinary tract obstruction.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Bonczynski enjoys long-distance running, gardening, golfing, hiking and skiing. She enjoys sharing these activities with her husband and two daughters. Their home is completed with two dogs named Lottie and Karo, a house-ruling cat named Olaf and Fluffer Nutter the hamster.
